To attract new customers (and retain old ones), you’ll need to make a great impression. Accordingly, asphalt repairs are now more important than ever and here’s why.

Results of Study

TK Business Magazine reported on a study, performed in 2011 by the marketing research and consulting firm, Morpace, which revealed very surprising statistics when it comes to curb appeal, such as:

  • 95% claimed their decisions on where to shop is based on external appearance.
  • 67% reported avoiding certain stores based solely on appearance.
  • Half of those surveyed would not visit an establishment that appeared dirty.

North Carolina Findings

Similar findings arose from research performed in North Carolina in 2013. Discouraged by declining tourism, the town of Maggie hired a consultant to determine the reason. In short, a lack of curb appeal was found to be negatively impacting area businesses.

The consultant reported that, “The curbside appeal of the town has suffered over the years. It is one of those things that affects every business.” He also noted that 70% of first-time sales were influenced by an establishment’s curb appeal, which includes its driveway and parking lot.
