Those who are serious about their profession stay up-to-date on the latest products, techniques, and education in their field. That’s why Joe Schanz was pleased to attend the National Pavement Expo 2016 in Charlotte, NC this past month. The Pavement Expo is geared toward professionals who are truly serious about their business, and features five days of education through seminars, workshops, and round table discussions.

Some of the educational topics included:

  • techniques for installing paving synthetics
  • using technology to improve striping productivity
  • understanding pavement defects and repair options
  • what’s new in asphalt compacting

Joe also got plenty of inspiration when he stopped by the NASCAR Hall of Fame, home of Glory Road 2.0, an exhibit that features 18 cars through six generations of NASCAR races. From the 1952 Hudson Hornet to the 2013 Toyota Camry, the exhibit showcases the work of NASCAR’s most celebrated drivers, owners and mechanics.

Later, he enjoyed seeing 1.5 miles of perfect pavement at “The Greatest Place to See the Race” – the Charlotte Motor Speedway. The Charlotte Motor Speedway is home to the NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race, the Coca-Cola 600 and the Bank of America 500 each year.
